Cardinals Set to Face Boston College in First Round of ACC Championship


ROME, Ga. – The University of Louisville women’s tennis team is set to travel to Rome, Ga. this week, where the Cardinals will face Boston College in the first round of the 2022 ACC Championship at the Rome Tennis Center.
 
The match between the 14th-seeded Cardinals and 11th-seeded Eagles is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The winner will face sixth-seeded Georgia Tech on Thursday at 6 p.m.
 
Louisville fell 7-0 to Boston College in the teams’ last meeting on Apr. 3.   
 
The Cardinals (8-14, 0-13 ACC) fell 5-2 to No. 24 Wake Forest on Sunday and are looking to snap an eight-match losing skid going into Wednesday’s match. Tatiana Simova leads the team in singles play with an 11-8 record and an overall record of 21-13 in dual match competition. The doubles teams of Simova and Andrea Di Palma and Chelsea Sawyer and Dina Chaika each have 10 wins to lead Louisville. Head coach Mark Beckham is in his 14th season at the helm.
 
Boston College (8-12, 3-10 ACC) fell 7-0 to No. 14 Miami on Sunday. The Eagles are led in doubles competition by No. 37 Maria Aguiar and Laura Lopez, who have compiled a 16-8 record. Aguiar leads the team in singles play with 11 wins, followed by Lopez with 10 wins. Nigel Bentley is in his 23rd season at the helm for Boston College.
 
Championship ticket passes are $25. One-day entry passes are $10 for adults and $7 for children (age 9-17) and non-ACC college students. Children (8 and under) and ACC college students (with valid ID) are admitted free of charge.
