COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State All-American Cannon Kingsley has been selected for the prestigious 2022 USTA Collegiate Summer Team for the second consecutive year. The USTA selects the 10 top American college players, five men and five women, to train across the US this summer.
Kinglsey was also part of the program last summer and was joined by fellow Buckeye John McNally on the team. The two competed in three professional events last summer.
The training program is designed to help America’s premier college players assimilate to professional tennis in a team-oriented environment via USTA Player & Coach Development. Each of the players were selected based on a number of criteria, including rankings, individual collegiate tournament results or Intercollegiate Tennis Association honors. Players on the team are eligible to receive a grant for travel to USTA Pro Circuit events and coaching support over the summer.
Kingsley had another great season, earning All-America honors for the second time in his career. The Big Ten Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Year had a 22-7 overall singles record, including a 15-4 mark at the No. 1 spot. He was ranked in the Top 20 all season and earned the No. 8 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship. Kingsley was also stellar in doubles with JJ Tracy, as the pair was 21-2 on the year and Kingsley finished with an overall mark of 23-2.
