BERKELEY – Several members of the California men’s tennis team will compete in the ITA Super Regional Championships from Friday through Monday at Stanford’s Taube Family Tennis Center. Alex Chang, Derrick Chen, Ryder Jackson, John Kim, Lucas Magnaudet, Carl Emil Overbeck and Mikey Wright will represent the Golden Bears on the Farm, at which they hope to qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships in November.
Kim and Wright previously qualified for doubles at fall nationals by reaching the doubles final of the Cal-hosted ITA Northwest Regional Championships earlier this month (see below).
At super regionals, Cal has two pairs – the fourth-seeded Jackson and Overbeck as well as Kim and Wright – competing in doubles, while five Bears – the seventh-seeded Jackson, Chang, Chen, Magnaudet and Overbeck – are in the singles field. The draws for the event are available here and the Stanford live stream is located here.
Cal is led by Kris Kwinta, the Peter Wright Director of Men’s Tennis, and assistant coach Francis Sargeant. Both joined the Bears’ staff last season.
