Bulldogs Bow Out In Quarterfinals


MILWAUKEE, Wis., – Mississippi State men’s tennis concluded play in the quarterfinals in both singles and doubles at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Saturday.

No. 36 Dusan Milanovic, the top overall singles seed in the event, dominated his first set 6-0 against Denver’s Daniel Sancho Arbizu but succumbed to the No. 7 seed in the next two sets 6-3, 6-4.

Benito Sanchez Martinez dropped his consolation match 6-3, 6-3 to Max Sheldon of Michigan State.

Milanovic and Sanchez Martinez teamed up later in the day for a doubles quarterfinal match against Western Michigan’s Anton Arzhankin and Benjamin George but were blanked 6-0.

The Bulldog duo combined for three singles victories and a doubles win during the tournament. MSU returns to action next at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is set to start on Sept. 30.
