Buffs Take On San Francisco At Home

BOULDER, COLO. – The Colorado Buffaloes Women’s Tennis team returns home to take on San Francisco
in their only match of the week at 10:00 a.m. MST on Saturday in the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center.

Through the first two weeks of the spring season the Buffs have had a consistent effort from the No. 3

doubles position. Senior Ellen Puzak and Sophomore Betina Tokac have been off to a great start winning

all three matches with a score of 6-4. The duo is currently the only doubles pairing to start the year

unbeaten.

The duo of Puzak and Tokac has contributed four points in matches this season for the Buffs including

singles victories against Weber State and Air Force. Tokac getting victories at No. 5 singles in the first

two matches of the year against Weber State 6-2, 6-3, and against Air Force 6-3,3-6, 10-6. Puzak got her

win at No. 6 singles against Weber State 4-6, 6-2, 10-6.

After taking a tough loss last weekend on the road at Denver 6-1 after taking the doubles point, the

Buffs will look to get back on track at home against San Francisco and will especially look to get off to a

fast start in singles play.

Head Coach Anthony Pham looks to address that in this last week of practice. Along with a faster start

the team will look to keep playing through tough stretches of the matches and not letting things that

happen in the match to throw off their games.

“We want to make sure we start at point one ready to go.” Pham said. “We started off flat for whatever

reason. That is something we talked about and addressed this week.”

The Buffs will look to start 3-1 for the first time since 2019-20 this Saturday with the match scheduled to

be played in Boulder at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center.

This will be only the fourth time facing off against San Francisco but the first time at home in Colorado.

San Francisco holds a 3-1 advantage all time with their last win coming in 2021. The only player that

played in that match was Senior Antonia Balzert who played at No. 4 singles losing the match 6-1, 6-1.

The Buffs lone victory against San Francisco came in 2007 with a 7-0 sweep in California.
