Brylin and Killingsworth Take On 2022 ITA Nationals


WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – With the fall season wrapping up, Wake Forest women’s tennis gears up for its final event of the semester, as two Demon Deacon standouts will travel to San Diego, California for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Nationals this week.

Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth, who ranked as the No. 3 doubles pair in the ITA preseason rankings, are set to compete, as the Fall Nationals run Wednesday to Sunday (Nov. 2-6).

Results of each day will be made available on the tournament website, along with live streaming.

Throughout the fall, in four events, Wake Forest has seen its players rack up 34 combined singles wins and 19 duo victories.



Dangerous Duo

Entering the fall as one of the country’s top tandems, Brylin and Killingsworth have gone 7-1 in fall competition. The duo represented in the ITA All-American Championships during the first week of October before being crowned A2 Doubles champions of the ITA Carolina Regionals two weeks later. The such victory earned the two a berth to the ITA Fall Nationals.

Last spring, Brylin and Killingsworth were named All-Americans in doubles by the ITA. The two Deacs became Wake Forest’s fifth doubles pair to receive All-American honors throughout program history. Consistently ranked in the ITA Doubles section all spring long, Brylin and Killingsworth stood as high as No. 2 among the country’s top duos. The two moved to No. 5 in May, becoming Wake Forest’s first tandem since Bea Bielik/Janet Bergman in 2002 to hold a ‘Top 5’ ranking in a season’s latter stretch. Brylin and Killingsworth tallied an overall record of 15-6 in 2022, taking down a team-best five ranked opponents. Each of their matches were played at the No. 1 spot.



Last Time Out

This past weekend (Oct. 28-29), Wake Forest senior Maddie Lynch and freshman Jingyi Li partook in Elon University’s hosted Jimmy Powell Invitational. The two closed out their weekend participation on a high note, picking up wins in singles and doubles during Saturday.

Playing as a doubles team, Lynch and Li tied with Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding of Elon for the most points within the competition, tallying eight a piece.
