Bruno Announces 2022-23 Women’s Tennis Schedule

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women’s tennis and head coach Kim Bruno announced the Spartans’ 2022-23 schedule on Friday, highlighted by two fall events and 13 dual matches on the MSU campus.

“Our schedule is packed with great opportunities leading all the way into Big Ten play,” Bruno said. “Our goal is to get in that top-50 range in the rankings, and that is going to require that we take care of business. It’s about taking every match just as seriously as the next one. We’re in a league with Michigan, Ohio State and Northwestern, and they’re each loaded with talent across the board. We have to take the fall and build from that, especially considering how new this group is. If we can overcome some belief things against those top teams, we’re going to come out and surprise some opponents that think they should take us down.”

The Green & White open the 2022 fall tournament season with the Spartan Invite, beginning on Sept. 30 and running through Oct. 2. MSU hits the road for four more contests in the month of October, beginning with the ITA All-American Championships at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina, running from Oct. 1-9. A contingent of Spartans will represent MSU at the Northwestern Invite on Oct. 7-9 in Evanston, Illinois, before returning to the Great Lakes State for the ITA Midwest Regional Championships on the campus of the University of Michigan on Oct. 20-24.

MSU heads down south for a two-day tournament hosted by the University of Alabama, as the Spartans participate in in the Alabama Classic on Oct. 28-29. The team concludes the fall portion of the season on Nov. 4-6, as MSU welcomes opponents to campus for the Green & White Dual event.

Michigan State will usher in the 51st dual match season in program history following the turn of the new year, as the Spartans open play with a two-match road trek at Toledo on Jan. 15 followed by a Jan. 21 test at Notre Dame. MSU returns to campus for five-straight home matches against Liberty (Feb. 3), Miami of Ohio (Feb. 5), Bowling Green (Feb. 5), Marquette (Feb. 12) and Marshall (Feb. 17) before competing in a one-off meeting at Columbia on Feb. 19 in New York.
