SEATTLE – Husky junior duo Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn have risen up the rankings to open up the 2023 fall season, including finding themselves ranked in the Top-25 together in doubles, and earning career high singles rankings. The men’s squad will open up fall play on Oct. 2 at the ITA All-America Championships.
Bouchelaghem and Zharyn both earned All-Pac-12 Second Team honors last year, playing in the top half of the Husky singles lineup along with All-Pac-12 Second Teamer Han-Chih Lin. They also teamed together for a successful season at the No. 1 doubles spot, ranking as high as No. 44 during the season.
This fall, the two have climbed up to 16th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association national preseason doubles rankings. They are the 18th and 19th Dawgs to reach the Top-25 in doubles and the first since Jack Davis and Ewen Lumsden in 2022.
In singles, Bouchelaghem will open up the year at a career-high No. 41. He had a stellar 26-6 season last year including a 19-2 mark in dual matches, going 17-1 at No. 3 singles.
Zharyn, who was 12-8 overall in singles last year and 10-8 at the No. 2 singles spot, opens the fall ranked No. 91. The Belarus native was ranked as high as No. 111 last year, so this is his first time breaking into the top-100.
