SEATTLE – Husky senior Cesar Bouchelaghem has earned his way into this fall’s NCAA Singles Championship by virtue of reaching the finals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championship. Bouchelaghem took out 44th-ranked Theo Dean in the semifinals today at the Nordstrom Tennis Center to grab one of two available bids to NCAAs.

With the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships moved to November for the first time this year, new qualifying procedures were put in place, and reaching the finals of the regional tournaments is one path.

Bouchelaghem beat Dean, 6-4, 6-4, to advance to the final where he will face another Cal Bear, Carl Emil Overbeck, on Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m.

Bouchelaghem is the first Husky to reach the Northwest Regional final since Clement Chidekh in 2021. He will also be the first Husky in the NCAA Singles tourney since Chidekh, in the spring of 2022.

In the doubles semifinals, Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn dropped a 5-7, 6-4, (10-5) fight against Cal’s 25th-ranked Overbeck and Theo.
