ORLANDO, FLA. — After four single-elimination rounds, the 2023 NCAA Doubles Championship will be made up of two North Carolina doubles pairs.
Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig will face teammates Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty in the championship match on Saturday.
To begin the day, Brantmeier and Scotty defeated University of Southern California’s Cayetano/Sieg, 6-4, 6-3 to advance to Saturday. Scotty will play for her second collegiate doubles championship tomorrow. In 2021, she won the NCAA doubles championship with Makenna Jones.
Crawley and Tanguilig cemented their spot in the championship match after defeating Virginia’s Adams/Collard. Earlier in the season, Adams/Collard defeated the UNC duo by a score of 6-3.
Tomorrow, UNC will win its third doubles championship in program history (2007, 2021). Three doubles championships is the third-most all-time.
The match will take place after the singles championship match but not before 11:30 a.m.
