Boilers Going to Nashville for June Stewart Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Following a solid outing at the UC/Pam Whitehead Invitational, the Purdue women’s tennis team is heading back on the road to Vanderbilt for the June Stewart Invitational.

The Boilers will have the opportunity to face players from Missouri, Vanderbilt and fellow Big Ten competitor Illinois in a round robin style. Middle Tennessee State will also have some players in the mix.

The invitational will begin on Friday morning when Purdue faces Vanderbilt in singles then Missouri in doubles. Saturday will feature the Boilers facing Illinois in doubles then it’s back to Missouri for singles. Sunday will be the final day of the invitational. The Boilermakers will start the morning with singles against Illinois and wrap up the weekend with doubles against Vanderbilt.

In Cincinnati, the Boilermakers were able to cruise to victory in 11 of their 18 singles matches. The success in singles was highlighted by Liz Norman’s perfect outing. The redshirt senior fought through two tiebreakers to secure her perfect 3-0 weekend in her first outing with the Boilers. Freshman Antonia Pareja and sophomore Juana Larranaga both went 2-1 in their singles matches.

Norman also had a successful weekend at doubles going 2-1 with freshman Kennedy Gibbs.
