Boilermakers Suffer Road Loss - Purdue Boilermakers


SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Purdue women’s tennis has had its second loss of the season.

The Boilermakers went on the road for the first time this spring and fought to the very end against San Diego State before dropping the match.

Purdue’s sophomore class pulled off impressive singles wins. Tara Katarina Milic put the Boilers on the board with her swift victory. She defeated Rania Azziz from San Diego State in a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4.

Carmen Gallardo Guevara was the next to win in the No. 3 spot. After winning the first set 6-3, she dropped the second 4-6. In the third set, Gallardo Guevara fought back and ended the match with a 6-0 win over Alicia Melosch from San Diego State.

Juana Larranaga rounds out the singles wins. She also fought back after losing her second set and ultimately won her match at No. 6 with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 victory against Andreea Velcea of San Diego State.

Larranaga also recorded a doubles win along with her partner freshman Kennedy Gibbs. The pair pulled off a win at No. 3 against San Diego State’s Dariya Detkovskaya and Julia Jordan.
