LINCOLN, Neb. – Purdue women’s tennis secured its first road win of the season with a 4-1 victory over No. 71 Nebraska.
Freshman Kennedy Gibbs sealed the Boilermakers fate with her win at No. 4 singles. Gibbs took the first set with a quick 6-1 win. After falling in the second, she came back with a commanding 6-3 win in the third set over Anfisa Danilchenko of Nebraska.
Senior Csilla Fodor also logged another quick win. The No.2 singles match was the first to finish. Fodor beat Ana C. Zamburek from Nebraska 6-1, 6-2. The senior is now only four singles wins away from securing her place in the team record books.
A win at No. 5 rounded out Purdue’s success at singles. Sophomore Tara Katarina Milic battled Nebraska’s Raphaelle Lacasse for her victory. Ultimately, Milic came out on top with a 6-3, 6-4 win.
In doubles, the Boilers were able to snag the doubles point and establish an early lead. The pair of Milic and redshirt senior Liz Norman decided the fate of that point with a 6-3 win over Lacasse and Samantha Alicea from Nebraska.
The doubles team of Fodor and sophomore Carmen Gallardo Guevara swept the team of Lucy Loy and Danilchencko at No. 3. This is the first time the duo has played together since February.
