SEATTLE – The regular season ends with a rivalry for the Husky women’s tennis team, as it hosts Washington State in the annual Boeing Apple Cup Series meeting this Saturday, Apr. 22, at 12 noon. The 22nd-ranked Huskies will honor three seniors prior to the match who will be making their final home appearance, though whether that will be at Bill Quillian Stadium or the Nordstrom Tennis Center is T.B.D.

Washington goes into the home and regular season finale looking to get back to its winning ways after a tough couple weeks on the road which saw the team’s record drop to 15-7 overall and 5-4 in Pac-12 play following a 5-0 start. The Dawgs will look to take down the Cougars (7-13, 0-9 Pac-12) and then carry that into next week’s Pac-12 Championships, and from there into a second-straight NCAA tournament bid.

Senior Day ceremonies on Saturday will recognize Ashley Chang, Jennifer Kerr, and Hikaru Sato.

The Toronto native has a combined 35 singles and doubles wins and is earning her degree in Finance. She has been on the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll the past two years.

Kerr has been exceptional for the Huskies in her one and only season after transferring from Columbia. Her 15 dual match victories lead the squad, all at the No. 4 position. A native of Carlsbad, Calif., Kerr completed her degree at Columbia majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior and has taken postbaccalaureate studies while attending UW. Combining Columbia and UW, Kerr is up to 93 career singles wins and 72 career doubles wins.

Sato, a native of Tokyo, Japan, has held down the No. 1 singles spot for the Huskies all season, jumping to the top after playing in the middle of the lineup in 2022. Sato joined Washington from Washington State before the 2021-22 season and has been a crucial piece in the Huskies earning Top-20 rankings both years. She has a combined 65 singles and doubles wins as a Husky, and adding in her Cougar wins, she has 82 career singles wins and 90 career doubles wins. She has been ranked as high as No. 97 in singles this season and has been ranked in doubles with both Zehra…
