Blue Devils to Open Play at ITA Regionals in Chapel Hill Thursday


CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Duke women’s tennis team will open action Thursday in Chapel Hill as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regionals get started at the Chewning Tennis Center.  The action will go from Oct. 17-21 with singles and doubles play.

 Blue Devil freshman
Ava Krug will get things started at 9 a.m., Thursday against Lisa Kranec of Elon in the qualifying round.  Six other Duke student-athletes open play Friday in qualifying – Irina Balus, Shavit Kimchi, Emma Jackson, Katie Codd, Ellie Coleman and Eleana Yu
 
Duke features five ranked singles players – Kimchi (38), Jackson (41), Codd (49), Coleman (53) and Yu (73).  The Blue Devils doubles teams of Jackson/Yu are No. 58 and Kimchi/Coleman are No. 61.  Balus also earned a No. 10 ranking in the newcomer singles ledger.
