DURHAM – The Duke women’s tennis team will close the home portion of its 2024 schedule this weekend as the 20th-ranked Blue Devils host Virginia Tech and fourth-ranked Virginia on Friday and Sunday, respectively, inside Ambler Tennis Stadium.
 
Duke (12-6, 5-4 ACC) welcomes the Hokies (8-9, 3-6 ACC) on Friday at 5 p.m., before hosting the Cavaliers (17-2, 9-0) on Sunday at 12 p.m.  Sunday’s match will mark senior day for a trio of Blue Devils – graduate student Brianna Shvets, graduate student Iuliia Bryzgalova and senior Karolina Berankova.  All three will be honored prior to the match.

The Series with Virginia Tech
Duke and Virginia Tech will face off for the 29th time in school history. The Blue Devils own a 26-2 record against the Hokies in the series. In the last match, Duke totaled a 4-3 win in Blacksburg, Va. The two squads will meet in Durham for the 17th time. Duke holds a perfect 16-0 record at home against Virginia Tech, winning its last home match, 7-0, in 2022.
 
Scouting Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech holds an 8-8 overall and 3-6 ACC record on the season. The Hokies dropped their last match, 6-1, to No. 10 NC State. In the latest ITA rankings, the duo of Semra Aksu/Erika Cheng (75) represent the Hokies in the double’s ledger.
 
The Series with Virginia
Duke and Virginia will square off for the 73rd time in school history. The Blue Devils are 63-9 all-time in the series, dropping their latest match, 4-3, in 2023 in Charlottesville. Duke and Virginia will meet for the 30th time in Durham. In matches played in Durham, Duke owns a 27-2 record, winning its last match, 4-3, in 2022.
