DURHAM – In a top-five clash to conclude the regular season, the third-ranked Duke women’s tennis team will travel to top-ranked North Carolina on Friday, April 14 for a 3 p.m., contest at the Kone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The matchup features the top two teams in the ACC as the Blue Devils feature a 22-2 overall and 11-1 league mark, while the Tar Heels are 26-0 and 12-0 in the ACC.  

The Series with North Carolina

Duke and North Carolina will meet for the 93rd time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 47-45.  The Tar Heels have controlled the series as of late winning 12 out of the last 14 contests, but the Blue Devils are coming off posting a 5-2 win in Durham a season ago.  In matches played in Chapel Hill, the Blue Devils feature a 16-18 ledger, including five straight losses.  Blue Devil head coach Jamie Ashworth owns a 23-23 record against the Tar Heels with a 7-9 mark won the road.

Scouting North Carolina

North Carolina enters the week with 26-0 overall and 12-0 ACC record, while being ranked No. 1 nationally.  The Tar Heels have posted a 14-0 ledger at home and owns a 75-match home winning streak.

In the latest ITA rankings, Fiona Crawley (1), Reese Brantmeier (10), Carson Tanguilig (16), Abbey Forbes (27), Anika Yarlagadda (33), Elizabeth Scotty (92) and Reilly Tran (97) are listed in singles.  In the doubles rankings, Tanguilig and Crawley (4), Brantmeier and Scotty (13), Tanguilig and Tran (42) and Scotty and Forbes (68) are ranked.

Hey, I Know You!

Blue Devil graduate student Cameron Morra will return to Chapel Hill on Friday, after spending the last four seasons as a member of the North Carolina women’s tennis Team. Morra was a three-time All-American in singles, two-time All-American in doubles, 2022 ITA Carolina Region Senior Player of the Year, a two-time All-ACC selection and 2019 ACC Tournament MVP.  

Morra totaled an 87-33 mark in singles and 102-31 ledger in doubles over the four years with the Tar Heels.  She helped lead UNC to three straight ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
