Blue Devils Face Miami & FSU in Key ACC Matchups

DURHAM – The eighth-ranked Duke women’s tennis team will open a four-match homestand this weekend by hosting a pair of ranked ACC opponents.  The Blue Devils (18-2, 7-1 ACC) hosts No. 11 Miami (11-3, 6-1) on Friday, March 31 at 2 p.m., followed by No. 38 Florida State (10-7, 3-4) on Saturday, April 1 at 12 p.m.  The matches are scheduled to be played at Ambler Tennis Stadium on campus.  

The Series with Miami

Duke and Miami will meet for the 34th time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 20-13.  The Blue Devils feature an 8-3 ledger in matches played in Durham, including five wins in a row.  Blue Devil head coach Jamie Ashworth owns a 12-7 record against the Hurricanes with a 4-1 mark at home.

Scouting Miami

Miami has won five straight ACC matches and features an 11-3 overall and 6-1 ACC mark under the direction of head coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews.  

In the latest ITA rankings, Alexa Noel (11), Isabella Pfennig (116) and Daevenia Achong (118) in the singles listing.  The duo of Achong and Noel are ranked No. 14, while Noel and Pfennig are No. 53 in doubles.    

The Series with Florida State

Duke and Florida State will meet for the 44th time in school history with the Blue Devils leading the series, 37-6.  The Blue Devils are 15-1 in matches played in Durham, including six straight wins.  Florida State is coming off notching a 4-2 win a year ago in Tallahassee, Fla.  Blue Devil head coach Jamie Ashworth owns a 17-4 record against the Seminoles.

Scouting Florida State

Florida State enters the weekend with a 10-7 overall and 3-4 ACC record under head coach Jennifer Hyde.  The Seminoles will face top-ranked North Carolina on Friday, March 31 at 2 p.m., prior to facing the Blue Devils on Saturday.  

In the latest ITA rankings, Anna Arkadianou (67) and Vic Allen (108) are listed in singles.  The tandem of Arkadianou and Millie Bissett (49) along with Allen and Arkadianou (79) are ranked in doubles.
