Big Day For Men's Tennis At ITA Regionals Saturday


CARY, N.C.—Men’s tennis players from the University of North Carolina went 5-0 in singles action and 4-0 in doubles on Saturday at the ITA Carolina Region Championships at the Cary Tennis Park.

Logan Zapp, Benjamin Kittay, Peter Murphy, Karl Poling and Anuj Watane all posted singles wins to advance to Sunday’s Round of 16. Watane beat second-seeded Pedro Rodenas of Duke in straight sets to highlight the day.

Tournament action will resume on Sunday at 9 a.m. in Cary.

Friday, First Round Singles

Peter Murphy d. Ryuya Ata (Coastal Carolina) 6-1, 6-3

Benjamin Kittay d. Thomas Kennedy (Furman) 6-0, 7-6(1)
