Bears Reach Semifinals At ITA All-American

CARY, N.C. – Cal women’s tennis sophomore Jessica Alsola advanced to the semifinals of both consolation singles and – with teammate Katja Weirsholm – consolation doubles on Friday at the ITA All-American Championships at Cary Tennis Park.
 
In the singles quarterfinals Friday morning, the 50th-ranked Alsola defeated USC’s 65th-ranked Snow Han, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
 
In the afternoon, Alsola and Wiersholm beat Tennessee’s fifth-seeded and 10th-ranked Rebeka Mertena and Esther Adeshina, 6-2, 6-1, in the doubles quarterfinals.
 
On Saturday, Alsola plays Michigan’s 125th-ranked Julia Fliegner at 10 am ET, while Wiersholm and Alsola face Auburn’s Carolyn Ansari and Ariana Arseneault at 1 p.m. ET, as the Bears seek spots in Sunday’s finals.
 
The ITA All-American Championships conclude Sunday.
