BOULDER—Senior Antonia Balzert was named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday.
Balzert, who will graduate from CU with a double degree in Business Marketing and Psychology, was named to the team for maintaining above a 3.5 cumulative grade point average. She is the first CU tennis player to earn All-District distinction by the CSC and will now be placed on the ballot for voting for Academic All-American honors.
Balzert has played the No. 1 singles spot all season and has a 17-15 overall record including 10-10 record in dual matches. She has also teamed with Aya El Sayed at No. 1 doubles all season.
She has helped the team to more wins (12) than any team in seven years and the team’s first postseason appearance in 16 years as the squad will close out the season at the Inaugural Universal Tennis NIT.
Her 50 career wins, 14 wins at No. 1 singles and 83 overall victories are all in the CU career charts despite missing a good chunk of her freshman and sophomore seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
