Badgers fall to the Bulldogs 6-1

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Wisconsin men’s tennis team fell to the Drake Bulldogs Saturday afternoon. The #49-ranked Badgers held their own through doubles but ultimately came out on the wrong side of a 6-1 win for the Bulldogs.

It was a very evenly matched doubles competition. All three matches finished by a score of 6-4, but the Badgers were able to come out on top for two of them to secure the doubles point.

First to strike was the pair of seniors, Sebastian Vile and Robin Parts, at No. 3 doubles. They rallied their way to a 6-4 victory over Drake’s Evan Fragistas and Jeremy Schifris, their eighth win of the season and fifth in a row. Not far behind, Jared Pratt and Jason Hildebrandt worked together to pull off another 6-4 win. The duo defeated Matthew Clegg and Jarvis Reid at No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point and put the Badgers up 1-0.

A long doubles competition was followed by an even longer singles one. Five out of the six matches advanced to the third set. Despite that, no Badgers were able to come home with a singles win.

Up Next: The Badgers have a bit of a break before taking a spring break trip to San Diego, California, where they will take on San Diego State for a match at 4 p.m. on March 15.
