Badgers drop match vs. Ohio State, 6-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The University of Wisconsin men’s tennis team put up a fight against No. 2 Ohio State team Sunday afternoon but was not able to come away with a win. The Badgers (8-7, 2-2 B1G) lost to the Buckeyes (21-2, 4-0 B1G), 6-1.

Junior Mihailo Popovic was literally the last Badger on the courts, going toe-to-toe with the No. 53-ranked singles player in the country, Ohio State’s Justin Boulais, in a second-set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles. Popovic was the lone Wisconsin player to win the first set of their singles match and he kept up the fight and is walking away with his first ranked win of the season. In the end, Popovic defeated Boulais 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).

Up Next: The Badgers are back at home for a pair of Indiana-based opponents. They host the Purdue Boilermakers Friday at 4 p.m. and the Indiana Hoosiers Sunday at noon at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
