CARY, N.C. — Amira Badawi, Tara Chilton, and Jackeline Lopez of the Rutgers women’s tennis team are set to compete at the ITA Women’s All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina from Sept. 30-Oct. 8.
The three-stage event begins with Pre-Qualifying (Sept. 30-Oct. 1), followed by Qualifying (Oct. 2-4), and finishing with the Main Draw (Oct. 5-8). All matches will be played at one of the four host locations: Cary Tennis Park, Duke University, University of North Carolina, and North Carolina State University.
Rutgers will open the event with Lopez competing in pre-qualifying for singles. The junior will take on Gabriella Broadfoot of NC State on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
Later that day, the duo of Badawi and Chilton will compete in pre-qualifying for doubles, facing University of Central Florida’s Jantje Tilbuerger and Grace Levelston at 3:30 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Scarlet Knights competed at the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Connecticut, from September 22-24. Along with RU and host Yale, Boston University and Brown also competed in the three-day, four-team tournament.
Rutgers ended the weekend with 17 total wins, nine singles and eight doubles. Mai Nguyen and Badawi both had successful weekends, going a perfect 3-for-3 as a doubles team with a combined three singles wins.
Newcomers Yana Gurevich and Naomi Karki both recorded their first victories for Rutgers in singles and doubles play.
Looking Ahead
Following the All-American Championship, the Scarlet Knights will head to Columbia University in New York City, N.Y. to compete in ITA Regionals from October 6-8.
