Ashworth Releases 2023 Spring Women’s Tennis Schedule

DURHAM – On Wednesday, Duke women’s tennis head coach Jamie Ashworth released the 2023 schedule, which commences Jan. 13 in Durham.

The 2023 slate features 15 home matches that will be played in the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center or Ambler Tennis Stadium, a venue that Duke features a 69-2 record in over the last six years.

Duke opens action Jan. 13 against former Blue Devil assistant coach Michelle Dasso and the Furman Paladins.  The Blue Devils will feature eight straight home matches to open the season. This includes Duke hosting the ITA Kickoff Weekend Jan. 28-29.  Duke welcomes VCU on Jan. 28, while also hosting SMU and Wisconsin.  On Jan. 29, the consolation match is set to be played at 10 a.m., followed by the championship match at 2 p.m.

The Blue Devils close their homestand Feb. 4 against Harvard and NC Central along with Georgetown (Feb. 5).

If the Blue Devils win the kickoff weekend, Duke will move on to play in the National Team Indoors, which takes place Feb. 10-13 in Seattle, Wash.

Duke features seven home ACC matches – Notre Dame (March 3), Louisville (March 5), Northwestern (March 22), Miami (March 31), Florida State (April 1), Wake Forest (April 6) and NC State (April 8).

The Blue Devils open league play on the road at Virginia Tech (Feb. 24) and Virginia (Feb. 26), with five other road ACC matches rounding out the away slate – Clemson (March 10), Georgia Tech (March 12), Syracuse (March 24), Boston College (March 26) and North Carolina (April 14).

The ACC Championship will be held April 19-23 at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.

Ashworth returns five letterwinners off his 2022 ACC Championship squad that also advanced to the NCAA Final Four for the 11th time under his direction.  A pair of All-Americans – Chloe Beck and Georgia Drummy – highlight the returns for the Blue Devils.  Duke added three highly-ranked transfers to the mix as Cameron Morra, Iuliia Bryzgalova and Brianna Shvets joined the squad in the fall along with freshman Katie Codd.
