Ashworth Announces 2023 Fall Slate

DURHAM – Duke women’s tennis head coach Jamie Ashworth announced the squad’s 2023 Fall schedule on Friday, which features seven different events over the next three months.

The Blue Devils open action in a pair of invitationals Sept. 15-17.  Duke travels to Greenville, S.C., to compete in the Furman Invitational and takes the short drive to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the Kitty Harrison Invitational.

The following weekend, Duke sees action in the USTA Ranked +1 Spotlight in Cary, N.C., Sept. 21-24.

Duke concludes the month of September and opens October at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championship Sept. 30 through Oct. 8, also in Cary, N.C.  The Blue Devils make their way back to Chapel Hill Oct. 19-23 for the ITA Regional Championship to close out the month.

In November, Duke splits into two tournaments to round out the fall campaign.  Some of the Blue Devils will travel to ITA Fall Nationals in San Diego, Calif., from Nov. 1-5, while the others stay local and participate in the NC State Invitational Nov. 3-5 in Raleigh, N.C.

In the preseason ITA rankings, the Blue Devils feature three ranked student-athletes — junior Emma Jackson (36) and graduate student Brianna Shvets (111) were among the top 125 singles rankings, while senior Karolina Berankova and Jackson checked in at No. 48 in the top-60 doubles rankings.

Duke is coming off totaling a 23-5 overall record a season ago.  The Blue Devils return six letterwinners this fall, while welcoming in Shavit Kimchi from Sdey Hemed, Israel.
