Arizona Signs Glib Sekachov to Join 2025 Squad

TUCSON, Ariz. – Men’s Tennis head coach Clancy Shields has signed Glib Sekachov of Ukraine to join the Wildcats roster come January 2025.

As the top-ranked Ukrainian player in his class, Sekachov currently holds a career-high ITF Junior ranking of No. 88 and has collected four ITF doubles titles and four ITF singles titles.

Most recently, Sekachov, alongside partner Dmitry Suboch, won the J300 Pancevo doubles title in Serbia. The win marks the fourth ITF doubles title for the Ukraine native.

In May, Sekachov won his fourth ITF singles title at the J200 Villach tournament in Austria. Entered in the main draw, Glib defeated multiple top 100 ITF players to make it through to the final where he claimed the title. Sekachov’s victory in Austria marks his second singles title of the year- the first being in February at the J100 Queretaro in Mexico- and his fourth singles title overall.

“First of all, I chose the University of Arizona because of the coaching staff and the team of players.” Sekachov said. “There are all the conditions for my development as an athlete and as a person. I am really happy and appreciate the opportunity to be part of Wildcat family.”

Sekachov will be joining Wildcats alongside the No. 5 recruiting class in the nation, which includes Arizona’s Zoran Ludoski, Matthias Uwe Kask, Oskar Jansson, Santiago Padilla-Cote, Filip Gustafsson.

“I’m excited to welcome Glib to the program. We felt like we were done for this recruiting class, but when we met Glib, we knew this was someone we needed in our locker room.” head coach Shields said. “Beyond his skills on the tennis court, we found the person who fit our culture, who will be a great teammate, and who will elevate the experience of everyone around him. He’s got a magnetic personality and tremendous work ethic, combined with a high-level skill set. We are thrilled to welcome Glib to the family and the University of Arizona!”
