Arizona Opens Their Spring Season with a Doubleheader


TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona vs. UC San Diego and GCU

When: Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2023 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. MST

Where: GCU Tennis Facility, Phoenix, Ariz.

Team records: Arizona (0-0, 0-0), UC San Diego (0-2, 0-0), GCU (3-0, 0-0)

Notes

Series: Arizona faces UC San Diego for the first time in program history. Arizona leads GCU 11-0.

What’s New? – The team looks a little different this season with two new recruits. Martyna Ostrzygalo and Teja Tirunelveli are the newest addition to the Wildcat family. Head Coach Ryan Stotland received a No.16 ranking with this incoming class. Ostrzygalo came in at No. 121 in the ITF rankings and has a UTR of 10.18. Tirunelveli joins Arizona for the spring season as a Blue Chip Recruit. 

 

Cochin’ It – Arizona is led by head coach Ryan Stotland and assistant coaches Jordan Gobatie and Jamie Schroer.  

Looking Ahead – After the team’s doubleheader, they return home to LaNelle, where they will host BYU, Michigan State, and Missouri for the weekend. The Wildcats will begin day one on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. (MST) against BYU. Later that day at 5:00 p.m. (MST) will begin the first half of competition against Michigan State competing in doubles. They will resume play Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. (MST) for singles. The weekend will end with a match up against Missouri Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m (MST).
