Arizona Concludes Day One at Battle in the Bay


TUCSON – Arizona concluded its first day at the Battle of the Bay on Thursday, continuing its fall season. The Cats secured two wins to start off the tournament.

The first win of the day came in doubles action as Colton Smith and Herman Hoeyeraal defeated Michigan State’s Ozan Bars and Ronnie Hohmann in a 8-6 decision.

No. 23 Smith recorded a singles one on the day, defeating Luc Koenig (Baylor) 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-2.

Action will continue for the Wildcats at the Battle of the Bay and members of the team will additionally begin competition at the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, on Friday.

11:00 a.m. (MST) – #23 Smith vs. Gladluca Brunkow (UCSB)

2:30 p.m. (MST) – Hoeyeraal vs. #82 Pedro Vives (TCU)
