CARY, N.C. – California women’s tennis junior Jessica Alsola won in the singles main draw on Thursday at the ITA All-American Championships to move within one victory of qualifying for the ITA National Fall Championships.
Alsola, ranked 47th, posted an impressive 6-2, 6-2 win over Stanford’s 14th-ranked Angelica Blake in the round of 16 at Cary Tennis Park. Since the four singles semifinalists from the ITA All-American qualify for the fall championships, a win in the quarterfinal round would give Alsola a ticket to San Diego, which is hosting the national tournament from Nov. 1-5 at the Barnes Tennis Center.
In the quarterfinals in Cary, Alsola plays South Carolina’s 25th-ranked Sarah Hamner on Friday at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT. Two livestreams of ITA All-American matches are available, including the PlaySight version here (account required) and the Cracked Racquets version here.
