Orlando, Fla. – The Husker duo forced a third-set tiebreaker, but it was not enough as Samantha Alicea and Raphaëlle Lacasse fell in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament against LSU’s Kylie Collins and Anastasiya Komar.
In the first set, LSU, entering with a 10-0 record and a current No. 6 ITA ranking, grabbed the 6-3 win, but the Huskers bounced back. Trailing 3-4 in the second set, the pair tallied three-straight game wins to claim the 6-4 victory and force a third-set tiebreaker. It was a back-and-forth deciding set before LSU prevailed and won 14-12.
Senior Alicea and junior Lacasse finished the 2022-23 season with a 16-2 overall record and a 7-1 mark in conference competition. Additionally, the duo became the first doubles team to make an NCAA appearance for the Huskers since 2013.
