WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Mujtaba Ali-Khan swept the weekend in singles as the Purdue men’s tennis team dropped a 2-5 decision to Toledo on Sunday.
The Boilermakers opened up the match with a loss in doubles. Toledo took the point at No. 1 and 2, while Milledge Cossu/Ali-Khan put up a fourth win as a pair in the stat sheet.
Purdue didn’t let the deficit deter their spirits as Schwartz was filled with the roars of competition. Tomasz Dudek surprised in singles with a straight set win at No. 5, his second win of the spring.
Dudek easily took his first set 6-3, but showed his poise in the second by fending off a three-game rally from his opponent to close out the 7-5 victory in two sets.
Ali-Khan continued his success from Friday with a rallying win in three. After being down a set, the freshman battled back and dominated the final sets by not surrendering more than two games. His undefeated weekend brings to .500 at No. 3 and 6-4 on the season.
