TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women’s tennis team (4-2) swept UAB (2-3) on Saturday, defeating the Blazers 7-0 inside the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.
The Crimson Tide captured wins on two of three doubles courts before sweeping the singles matches for the team victory.
The Match
- Ola Pitak and Kasia Pitak captured the first win of the day as the duo recorded a 6-3 win on court three over UAB’s Enya Ratkic and Vanessa Mellynchuck
- The Blazers evened the battle for the doubles point with a win on court one, but Anne Marie Hiser and Loudmilla Bencheikh clinched the point with a 6-2 victory on court two against Adela Wasserbauervoa and Mackenzie White
- Ola Pitak secured the first singles win with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Sydney Clarke on court three
- Hiser followed with a 6-2, 6-2 decision on court six to give Alabama a 3-0 lead in the match
- Klara Milicevic’s 6-4, 6-3 performance on court five over Ratkic would clinch the match and give Alabama the team win
- Additionally, Loudmilla Bencheikh went 6-1, 7-5 on court one against Wasserbauervoa and Parkhomenko went 6-2, 6-2 on court four against Annalisa Smith
- Sedlackova rounded out the day with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Maggie White on court two
