Alabama Women’s Tennis Sweep Opening Weekend


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women’s tennis team swept Furman in its morning match and UAB in its afternoon match in the Saturday double-header inside the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility, improving to 2-0 on the season.

Head Coach Jonatan Berhane‘s Comments

“Overall, we did a good job in our morning match against Furman. It was encouraging to see how the team managed themselves under pressure. We need to do a better job staying focused throughout the whole match against UAB. Roll Tide!”

Alabama vs. Furman

Alabama took a clean sweep of Furman, never letting up en route to a 7-0 victory in the morning match. The Crimson Tide started the match off strong with winning the doubles point followed by straight-set wins by Ola Pitak, Anne Marie Hiser and Klara Milicevic.

Alabama vs. UAB

Alabama set the tone early by collecting the doubles point then proceeded to take its momentum into the singles with straight-set victories.

Klara Milicevic gave the Tide a 2-0 lead behind a strong performance in which she defeated Mackenzie White (UAB), 6-0, 6-1, while Loudmilla Bencheikh followed with Alabama’s third point in a straight set victory over UAB’s Sydney Clarke (6-2, 6-1). Ola Pitak sealed the sweep for the Tide with a win over Enya Ratkic (UAB), 6-3, 6-3.
