TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –– The Alabama men’s tennis team was named the ITA Southern Region Community Service Award winner, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Tuesday.
As a team, the Tide tallied over 60 hours of community service throughout the year. The program earned the regional honor for the first time since the 2019 season and the third time since the ITA started recognizing regional community service teams in 2001.
Alabama Community Service
- Combined, the Crimson Tide tallied over 60 hours of community service
- In the fall, Alabama spent time building houses with Habitat for Humanity, while helping out with UA’s Thank-A-Thon and signing autographs for the Tuscaloosa community on the UA Quad
- Members of the team attended UA’s Halloween Extravaganza, an event that celebrates Halloween and allows children in the community to play games and trick-or-treat with Alabama student-athletes
- The program also sent members to the Halloween Mixer at the Tuscaloosa Tennis Club and the RISE Center Holiday event
- Additionally, team helped host men’s night at the NorthRiver Yacht Club
- Joao Ferreira was named to the 2023 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team
