AUBURN, Ala. –– Alabama’s Enzo Aguiard advanced to the finals of the ITA Southern Regional Championships singles draw, while Filip Planinsek and Andrii Zimnokh earned a spot in the doubles championship match.
In addition to the Crimson Tide’s appearance in the singles and doubles finals, UA had two additional players reach the semifinals of the singles draw. Planinsek and Matias Ponce De Leon joined Aguiard in the semifinals as UA had three of the four players competing in the afternoon matches.
Both Aguaird and the doubles duo of Planinsek and Zimnokh will compete in the finals of the ITA Southern Regional Championships at 10 a.m. CT Tuesday.
The Tournament
- Planinsek, Aguaird and Matias Ponce De Leon won their quarterfinal matches to earn a spot in the semifinals of the singles draw
- Planinsek and Aguiard both recorded 6-3, 6-4 wins in their quarterfinal match Planinsek as defeated Benito Sanchez Martinez (MSU) and Aguiard defeated Alex Bancila (Tulane)
- Ponce De Leon downed LSU’s Rudy Ceccon 7-5, 6-1 in his quarterfinal match to advance to the next round
- Aguiard and Ponce De Leon met in the semifinals with Aguiard taking a 7-5, 6-3 victory
- Planinsek fell in a three-set battle, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, to 68th-ranked Petar Jovanovic (MSU)
- In doubles action, Planinsek and Zimnokh lost just two games over two sets to take a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Carlos Gimenez Perez and Juan Pablo Valdez Guzman from UAB

- Both the finals for singles and doubles will be played at 10 a.m. CT on Tuesday
- Planinsek and Zimnokh face Ole Miss’ Nikola Slavic and Lukas Engelhardt in the finals
- Aguiard will go head-to-head against Jovanovic in the finals
