TUCSON, Ariz.– The 43rd-ranked Arizona women’s tennis team fell to No. 25 Washington on Sunday in a 4-0 decision.
Reece Carter and Brandelyn Fulgenzi were the first ones with a win on the day, getting a ranked win on court one 6-3 over No.56 Alexia Jacobs and Astrid Olsen. Washington secured the doubles point as No.72 Catherine Gagnon/Melissa Sakar defeated Tanvi Narendran/Midori Castillo 6-2 and Dariya Detkovskaya/Erika Matsuda led Kayla Wilkins/Teja Tirunelveli 6-4.
Detkovskaya defeated Narendran 6-0, 6-4 to get the first singles victory of the morning. Washington extended their lead as Fortin got the 6-3, 6-1 win over Tirunelveli. The Huskies clinched the match after Sakar recorded a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Fulgenzi.
The Cats continue their season against Northern Arizona. Tuesday, Apr. 9 at 10:30 a.m. MST the Wildcats will take on the Lumberjacks at the NAU Tennis Center.
