DURHAM – No. 11 Duke men’s tennis welcomes No. 68 Clemson and No. 37 Georgia Tech to Ambler Tennis Stadium this weekend for two ACC contests.

 

The Blue Devils host the Tigers on Friday at 2 p.m. before welcoming the Yellow Jackets on Sunday at 11 a.m. Both contests are scheduled to be played at Ambler Tennis Stadium but will move inside to the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center if there is inclement weather. Two Duke singles players and one doubles pair were ranked by the ITA in its most recent listing. Sophomore Pedro Rodenas and senior Garrett Johns placed No. 31 and No. 64 in singles, respectively, while the doubles duo of graduate students Michael Heller and Andrew Zhang rank No. 21.

HISTORY WITH NO. 68 CLEMSON

Friday’s contest will be the 80th all-time meeting between the two programs with the Blue Devils holding the 48-31 edge on the series. Duke has claimed 15 of the last 17 meetings between the two schools, including a 7-0 victory last season on the road.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

Clemson brings a 7-4 overall record into Friday’s contest, including 6-1 and 7-0 wins over Furman and Wofford, respectively, on Thursday. The doubles pairing of Maxwell Smith and Noa Vukadin are listed as the No. 54 ranked doubles duo nationally.

 

HISTORY WITH NO. 37 GEORGIA TECH

The Blue Devils and Yellow Jackets have faced off 68th previous times with Duke leading the all-time series at 48-19. Duke has won four of the last five meetings against Georgia Tech, including a three-match winning streak. During the teams’ last meeting just a year ago, the Blue Devils posted a 6-1 victory in Atlanta.
