FLORENCE, S.C. – After five straight victories in the 2023 W25 Florence, SC Open, North Carolina senior Fiona Crawley won her first professional singles title.
Crawley, the top-ranked collegiate singles player entering the 2023-24 season, defeated Duke’s Chloe Beck 7-5, 6-1 to secure the title.
On her way to the title, Crawley defeated Catherine Harrison 7-6, 6-2 in the first round, Sophie Chang 6-1, 7-6 in the second round, Nicole Khirin 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in the quarterfinals and Tyra Caterina Grant 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 in the semi-finals to advance to the finals.
The Tar Heels will host the ITA Carolina Regional Championships beginning Thursday at the Chewing Tennis Center.
