Banerjee, Kolasinski Post Wins at ITA Events


STANFORD, Calif. – The college tennis season rolls on, as Stanford players competed at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the ITA Regional Championships in Berkeley, California.

Samir Banerjee represented the Cardinal at the All-American Championships, where he went 1-1 with his first ranked victory of the season. Earning a bye to the main draw, Banerjee, ranked No. 29 by the ITA, rolled past No. 35 Pablo Alemany from Memphis in the round of 64 in straight sets, 7-6 (8), 6-3. The round of 32 battle with No. 5 Sebastian Dominko (Notre Dame) saw Banerjee win the opening set, but fall in three after a tight tiebreaker in the second set.

Kolasinski was the top seed at the ITA Regional Championships, earning a bye to the round of 32. His first round matchup was a three-set victory over Sacramento State’s Jiri Novak, 2-6, 6-4, 6-0, but he fell in the round of 16 to Pacific’s Tiago Silva.

Stanford has also had players competing in ATP Challenger events around the country, with Arthur Fery reaching the championship match in Mouilleron-le-Captif, Nishesh Basavareddy advancing to the quarterfinals in Tiburon, and Banerjee opening action in Fairfield.

The Cardinal returns to action at Taube Family Tennis Center, for the first time this season, when it hosts the ITA Super Regionals from Oct. 20-23.
