CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va./CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Penn State women’s tennis team finished play at the Wahoowa Invitational in Charlottesville, Va. and the UNC Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Alina Lebedeva, Alexandra Nielsen, Katerina Dimitrova and Kate Zink participated in the Wahoowa Invitational.
On day one, Lebedeva and Nielsen paired up to win a doubles match against Francesca Feodorov and Ela Platenikova of Maryland, 7-6 (2). Nielsen won a singles match versus Feodorov, 6-0, 7-6 (5).
Nielsen and Dimitrova played doubles together on day two. They emerged victorious in their match against Iowa State’s Juliette Nask and Caroline Nicholls, 6-1.
Sofiya Chekhlystova, Yvonne Zuffova, Jordina Cegarra and Olivia Dorner played in the UNC Kitty Harrison Invitational.
On day one, Chekhlystova defeated Clemson’s Jenna Thompson, 7-5, 6-1. Dorner also advanced with a win over Auburn’s Ava Esposito Cogan, 1-6, 6-3, 11-9.
Zuffova won her match against Wisconsin’s Rosie Garcia Gross, 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-4, on day two.
On day three of the tournament, Zuffova and Dorner paired up for an 8-1 win against Vanderbilt’s Bridget Stammel/Amy Stevens.
Dorner won her final singles match of the tournament, 6-3, 6-4, over Old Dominion’s Allison Isaacs.
Chekhlystova and Cegarra combined for an 8-2 win against ODU’s Isaacs/Kira Matushkina.
