TUCSON – The Arizona men’s tennis team posted seven victories on their first day of their fall season, four at the Wildcat Invite and three at the USC +1.
Jay Friend was the first Cat with a win on the day, defeating Will Jansen (UNC) 4-3 by retirement. He was soon followed by Inaki Cabrera-Bello’s win over Auburn’s Billy Blaydes, 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.
In Tucson, Dominique Rolland and Eric Padgham got a 6-3 win in the Wilma draw over Itay Feigin and Luca Fe D’Ostiani (NMSU) to start the tournament.
In singles at the Wildcat Invite, Casper Christensen, Sasha Rozin and Rolland each charted a victory. Christensen tabbed his first win as a Wildcat, defeating Aram Noroozian (UNM) in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
Rozin took down Feigin 6-3, 7-6(5) while Rolland got the victory over Fe D’Ostiani 6-3, 6-2.
Nick Lagaev rounded out the victories on the day with his 6-4, 6-2 defeat of Alejandro Moreno at the USC +1.
Arizona continues action at both tournaments Saturday, Sept. 16 and Sunday, Sept. 17.
