Seaborne Tennis

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Ruth Seaborne has been a part of the Maryland tennis team since her arrival in July of 2021. Seaborne has been appointed the new Associate Head Coach of the Terps as of Saturday, July 1.

As an assistant coach in her third season, Seaborne was a integral part of leading the team to a 17-9 season record, which tied for second most wins in program history, and a season high ITA ranking of 33. Head Coach Katie Dougherty says “Ruth has made a huge impact on this program the past two years. Our players have benefited greatly from her knowledge on the court, her passion for them and the sport and her ability to connect with everyone. Ruth bounds into every room she enters with great energy and an infectious enthusiasm to take on whatever the day has in store. She’s a great coach, leader and person and we’re fortunate to have her at Maryland. It’s been so rewarding to have coached Ruth at Iowa, having her as a student assistant there to watching her cut her teeth at a couple spots and being able to bring her on board here at Maryland. Her loyalty, work ethic and commitment to the process make her invaluable to me and the program.”

In the fall of 2022, Seaborne coached the doubles duo of Brumfield and Cadar to the Atlantic Regional Finals. After an invitation to the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, the doubles duo competed to an Elite 8 appearance.

“I am both honored and humbled by the opportunity to continue to serve along side Coach Dougherty and now as her Associate Head Coach,” said Coach Seaborne. “We have been building something special at Maryland these past two years and I couldn’t be happier to carry on growing this incredible program alongside such a genuine and dedicated person, coach and leader. I know the best is yet to come for our student athletes and this team and I’m already looking forward to our next season. Go Terps!!”

Seaborne will enter the 2024 season with the Terps as the new Associate Head Coach.
