Six Tar Heels Named To The All-ACC Academic Team


CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina women’s tennis student-athletes Reese Brantmeier, Fiona Crawley, Elizabeth Scotty, Carson Tanguilig, Reilly Tran and Anika Yarlagadda have been named to the All-ACC Academic team, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Wednesday. 

Crawley and Scotty earned the recognition for the third time in their collegiate careers. Tanguilig, Tran and Yarlagadda were honored for the second time while Brantmeier received her first All-ACC Academic honor.

Brantmeier, Tanguilig and Yarlagadda are exercise and sport science majors. The trio combined for 81 singles wins over the course of the 2022-23 season.

Crawley is an english and comparative literature major. The ITA National Player of the year and ACC Player of the year from San Antonio, Texas, Crawley led the nation with 46 victories during the 2022-23 season.

Scotty is a media and journalism major from Annapolis, Md. She was named an ITA All-American and was also a member of the NCAA Championship All-Tournament team in 2023.

Tran, a junior neuroscience major compiled a 20-2 record in dual matches this season including an 11-1 record at No. 6 singles. Tran was also a member of the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team in 2023.

Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
