Women’s Tennis Come Up Short in 4-3 Loss to No. 14 Tennessee

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss women’s tennis fell short against No. 14 Tennessee, 4-3, on Friday, yet the loss didn’t stop Ludmila Kareisova from defeating another ranked opponent and Reka Zadori from earning her 20th win.
 
Ole Miss (9-11, 3-9 SEC) fought for every set from beginning to end. In doubles action, No. 1 doubles fell, but Anaelle Lecelrcqc-Ficher and Rachel Krzyzak were able to level the score. The 6-4 win on court two marks the first for the doubles pairing.
 
On court three, Kareisova and Emma Kette found themselves in a tiebreaker before eventually losing the tiebreaker 8-6. Tennessee (17-4, 10-2 SEC) took the 1-0 lead, heading into singles.
 
It did not take long for Kette to tie the score in singles. The freshman swiftly defeated her opponent, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4. Tennessee went on to take the next three singles match on courts two, three and five, which clinched the match.
 
However, Kareisova continued to fight against the 21st-best singles player in the nation Elsa Tomase. The Czechia native won the first set 6-4 but dropped the second 6-3, forcing a third set super tiebreaker. Kareisova fell behind early, then found her groove to finish with the 10-7 win. It is the sophomore’s highest-ranked win and her seventh overall this year.
 
In the sixth spot, Zadori battled throughout the entire match. She was down 5-2, then won three straight game points. The opening set ended up in a tiebreaker, where the junior won 7-2 for the 7-6 set win. The second set ended up in another tiebreaker. Zadori did not give in, winning the tiebreaker 14-12.
