No. 24 Women's Tennis Hosts No. 5 Pepperdine Before Visiting Oregon


The No. 24 UCLA women’s tennis team (9-6, 4-4 Pac-12) tackles the penultimate week of the regular season with matches at home and away from Los Angeles Tennis Center. Action begins from LATC Wednesday, when the Bruins meet No. 5 Pepperdine (13-2, 4-0 WCC) to continue the annual Southern California rivalry, beginning at 1:30 p.m. PT. UCLA returns to Pac-12 play Friday at 12 p.m., when it visits No. 49 Oregon’s (11-7, 4-4 Pac-12) Student Tennis Center. Free pizza will be available to the first 100 fans following Wednesday’s doubles action.

UCLA dropped a 4-2 conference decision to Arizona State Saturday afternoon at Whiteman Tennis Complex. The day’s final two matches were in third sets when the result was clinched. The Bruins earned the doubles point before Kimmi Hance added to the team’s score in singles play. Sedona Gallagher clinched the overall win for the Sun Devils, backing up efforts by Marianna Argyrokastriti, Rachel Hanford and Domenika Turkovic. The previous day, UCLA claimed four third sets en route to a 6-1 conference win against Arizona at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. Ava Catanzarite clinched the overall victory. Hance, Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer, Fangran Tian and Elise Wagle all logged two-win days for the Bruins. Kayla Wilkins prevailed in singles play for the Wildcats.

UCLA VS. PEPPERDINE, OREGON

UCLA women’s tennis is 58-22 versus Pepperdine. The programs most recently met April 6, 2022, when the No. 16 Bruins went the distance with the No. 6 Waves, but were ultimately outlasted at Los Angeles Tennis Center. The 4-3 final score represents the third such result between the programs since the start of the 2021 dual-match season. Abbey Forbes and Kimmi Hance were victorious in singles play for the UCLA, which also narrowly claimed the doubles point. Nikki Redelijk turned in the deciding win for Pepperdine.
