Gators Men’s Tennis Inks Jeremy Jin

Jin was the top-ranked junior in Australia for the majority of 2022.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida men’s tennis head coach Bryan Shelton has announced the signing of one of the top juniors in Australia, Jeremy Jin.

“Another great day for the Gators, as we welcome another tremendous prospect to our family,” said Shelton. “Jeremy Jin is an outstanding young talent from Australia and has had success at every level. One of the best things about Jeremy is his love for the game and his mentality. We know how excited he is to be a Gator and to put on the Orange & Blue. Gator Nation is going to love this young Aussie, as well. With hard work and a great attitude, there are no limits to what he can accomplish here and beyond!”

Jin is the first native of Australia to sign with the Gators with Shelton at the helm. The native of Sydney held the highest-ranking of any junior, No. 42, in Australia during 2022 and played in all four main draws of the junior Grand Slams.

Making his junior grand slam debut at the 2022 Australian Open, Jin reached the second round in both doubles and singles. Two months later, Jin teamed up with current Florida freshman Tanapatt Nirundorn to win his fourth junior doubles title at J1 Nonthaburi in Thailand. Between 2019 and 2022, Jin won six ITF junior singles titles.

Jin also has plenty of experience playing on the ATP Challenger Tour and Men’s ITF Tour. At the Traralgon 25k in Australia, Jin won five straight matches after beginning in the qualifying draw and reached the quarterfinal. Additionally, Jin has advanced from the qualifying draw into the main draw at the Playford Challenger, Sydney Challenger and Noumea Challenger.

At the 2023 Australian Open, Jin made his major debut after being awarded a men’s singles qualifying wild card and played ATP No. 130 Zizou Bergs in the first round.

Jin is rated a 13.42 on the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) scale and achieved a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 850 on April 4, 2023.
