No. 10 USC Men’s Tennis Picks Up 4-2 Conference Win Over No. 24 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – Trading punches at the Taube Family Tennis Center, No. 10 USC men’s tennis edged No. 24 Stanford, 4-2, on Friday afternoon. With the win, USC improves to 12-6, 2-1 while the Cardinal falls to 11-7 on the season with a 2-2 mark in the Pac-12.

USC’s win snapped a 21-match winning streak for the Cardinal at the Taube Family Tennis Center. 

The Trojans took an early 1-0 lead in doubles, taking wins on courts one and three. At No. 3 doubles, Ryan Colby and Stefan Dostanic beat Banerjee/Matta 6-1. Wojtek Marek and Samuel Rubell teamed up on center court to beat Basing/Fery with a 6-1 decision to haul in the doubles point. 

Troy carried the momentum into singles play to take a 3-0 lead with wins on courts four and five. First, Lodewijk Weststrate won 6-3, 6-4 over Aryan Chaudhary on court four. Next Bradley Frye beat Neel Rajesh 7-6(6), 6-3 at court five. Stanford put two points on the board with wins on courts two and one. The match was won on court three as Wojtek Marek defeated No. 16 Max Basing 3-6, 6-1, 7-5. 

Tomorrow, the Trojans look to sweep the Bay area schools as Troy will face Cal at 2 p.m. at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
