Men's Tennis Back In Tempe for Washington and Oregon Matchups


TEMPE – Sun Devil Men’s Tennis continues their stay at Whiteman Tennis Center hosting the Pacific Northwest schools. No. 46 Arizona State will take on No. 51 Washington on Friday, April 7, at 6 p.m. MST and No. 48 Oregon on Sunday, April 9, at 10:30 a.m AZT. Friday’s match will be live-streamed on ASU Live Stream 3 while Sunday’s match will be shown on ASU Live Stream 2.

Sun Devils This Year

Arizona State is 11-8 so far this season, with a 9-3 record in Tempe. The Sun Devils are coming off a couple of tough losses in Tempe last weekend against No. 9 USC and No. 28 UCLA.  Despite losing its last four games, ASU still has an above .500 record. During the team’s eight game win streak, the Sun Devils found a groove. Sophomore Murphy Cassone is No. 49 in the ITA Singles rankings. 

Know The Huskies

No. 51 Washington is 10-6, with a 1-1 record in the conference. This past weekend the Huskies dropped two matches against Pepperdine and Oregon which are two teams the Sun Devils have previously beaten earlier in the season. The Huskies picked up a Pac-12 Player of the Week honor last week as sophomore Dzianis Zharyn earned the first win of his career. Cesar Bouchelaghem has also earned that honor.

Know the Ducks

The Ducks are coming off of two wins last weekend with victories over No. 26 ranked UC Santa Barbara and the Huskies in Seattle. Oregon’s top doubles team of Joshua Charlton and Quinn Vandecasteele is now up to No. 12 in the ITA doubles rankings. The duo is 14-2 on the season winning six matches in a row. Earlier in the season the Sun Devils managed to sweep the Ducks in the ASU Invite to claim third place on April 9.

What to Know

The first 150 fans at Friday’s match against Washington will receive free Chick-fil-A while the first 150 fans at Sunday’s game against Oregon will receive free In-N-Out.
