DURHAM – Coming off a pair of wins against nationally-ranked opponents, the Duke women’s tennis team moved up to No. 6 nationally in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, which were released on Tuesday by the organization.
The Blue Devils are riding a nine-match winning streak and reached the 20-win mark on Sunday against No. 38 Florida State. Duke has registered 20 wins for the 19th time under head coach Jamie Ashworth and the 29th time in program history.
Duke owns a 20-2 overall and 9-1 ACC mark on the season as the Blue Devils prepare to host 24th-ranked Wake Forest on Thursday and seventh-ranked NC State on Saturday in Amber Tennis Stadium. The Blue Devils jumped two spots in this week’s ranking as Duke also registered a 4-3 win over No. 11 Miami over the weekend.
In the latest ITA team rankings, North Carolina, Texas A&M, Michigan, Pepperdine, Georgia, Duke, NC State, Ohio State, Virginia and Iowa State round out the top-20 teams.
Duke also features four student-athletes listed in the ITA singles rankings – Chloe Beck (5), Emma Jackson (34), Cameron Morra (76) and Georgia Drummy (121). In the doubles listing, Beck and Morra are No. 41.
Beck, who hails from Watkinsville, Ga., has collected a 27-4 overall singles mark to go along with an 8-1 ACC ledger. She owns a 17-1 dual match record and is 11-4 against nationally-ranked opponents.
A native of La Grange Park, Ill., Jackson owns a 21-9 overall and 7-3 ACC ledger in singles. Morra, who is from Rockville, Md., has notched a 19-12 singles record along with five ranked wins. Drummy, a product of Dublin, Ireland, has won four in a row to move to 9-5 on the season.
On the doubles side, Beck and Morra have totaled a 28-4 overall and 8-1 conference mark. The duo has won eight matches in a row.
Duke closes a homestand this week as the Blue Devils welcome No. 24 Wake Forest on Thursday, April 6 at 5 p.m., while hosting seventh-ranked NC State on Saturday, April 8 at 11 a.m., for senior day.
